| RABBI'S HOSPITAL PROJECT
Over the years, there have been Jewish patients in state hospitals, including Clarks Summit and, previously, Farview. The objective of this program is to have a religious leader of our community periodically visit the hospitals, hopefully on a weekly basis, where kosher sandwiches are brought to the patients as a special treat. Also, holiday foods are At present, Rabbi Yisroel Brotsky of Congregation Beth Shalom is responsible for the food distribution, which is paid for by the Jewish Federation. Previously, and for many years, the program was conducted Cantor Israel Dubner of Congregation Beth Shalom and, before him, Rabbi Milton Richman of Temple Hesed (formerly Madison Avenue Temple) and the late Rabbi Max Posnansky, also of Congregation Beth Shalom. The religious leader in charge of this program also meets with a group of fellow spiritual leaders, of all faiths, in order to discuss how they can best serve the patients during the year. |
