Educational Outreach

To date , the HERC has several programs at schools located at a distance from it, such as Montrose Area High School, for over 100 students each time. The HERC has also presented the following In-house and off-site teacher-training workshops and In- Service seminars:

    • March,1994: Our first in-house seminar was held for teachers with presentations by presenters from "Facing History and Ourselves."
    • March,1995: Afternoon and evening sessions were held in house (JCC Koppelman Auditorium), led by master teacher Elaine Culbertson of Philadelphia.
    • March, 1996: The first full-day In-Service was held at the Northeast Education Intermediate Unit which covers nineteen school districts. Three top-notch presenters and a survivor met with teachers.
    • April,1996: A special, separate, session was held for teachers who accompanied their students to the Teen Symposium.
    • August,1996: Two In-Service seminars were provided for the Scranton School District.
    • October, 1996: A half-day teachers' workshop was held at the Abington Heights Middle School

Plans are presently being formulated for offering "in-house"programs for middle school students for the first time this winter.
