HERC Achievements
To date , the HERC has:
- Dedicated two showcases which display memorabilia, photos, books, artwork, and a Torah scroll which survived the Shoah and mounted the "Anne Frank in the World" exhibit (1994) in the JCC building.
- Exhibited a month-long show of Holocaust art by artist Lillian Baral (1995) in the Goodman Lounge of the Scranton JCC.
- Sponsored a performance of chamber music written and performed in the Theresienstadt concentration camp, performed by the Karas String Quartet of Hartford, Connecticut.(1996) in the Koppelman Auditorium of the Scranton JCC
- Honored ten active volunteers (1996) for their dedication to student education.
- Sponsored "An Evening with Madame F", a musical-dramatic performance written and performed by Claudia Stevens, which depicts the experiences of Fania Fenelon and other concentration camp inmates who survived, at great emotional and psychological price because of their musical talent and virtuosity. Held at the Eagen Auditorium of the University of Scranton, this program was coordinated through the Judaic Studies Committee of the University.
